LAUREL and HARDY in TYNEMOUTH

Laurel & Hardy in Tynemouth
Laurel and Hardy visited Tynemouth twice. On 28 July 1932 they stayed just one night at the Grand Hotel, in Percy Gardens.
In the afternoon Stan and Ollie attended a Civic Reception on the terrace at the back of Tynemouth Plaza, overlooking the beach
(see above), where they later presented prizes to around six hundred local orphans.

1952 - w/c 17 March - while appearing at the Newcastle Empire, Laurel and Hardy ended up staying at Grand Hotel, in
Tynemouth, as, after a mess up with their reservation, they couldn't get into the North British Station Hotel in Newcastle.

the view from the front entrance of the Grand Hotel.
