8 B&W Postcard Set

Laurel & Hardy made FOUR tours of Britain. The first, in 1932, was purely a promotional tour. During the next three, in 1947, 1952, and 1953-54, they toured the theatre circuit in Variety shows, playing a stage sketch. All these photographs were taken during the 1947 Tour. Four of the set show them in stage costume. The others show them at special events, which they attended during the day:

Laurel and the Hardy take time out during their week at Butlin’s, Skegness, to judge the “Holiday Lovelies” competition.

The Mayor welcomes Laurel and Hardy to Tynemouth, before driving them to Stan's former home in North Shields, on the Wednesday of their week at the Newcastle Empire

When Laurel & Hardy played the Glasgow Empire, Stan came up with the idea of wearing kilts .

Upon their arrival at Southampton, England, on the Queen Elizabeth, Laurel seems to be pointing at Hardy and saying: “Look who this is.”

Stan and Babe get their boyhood wish to be engine drivers, when they re-open the Romney Hythe & Dymchurch Railway Line, Kent.

Stan & Ollie making a ‘live’ radio broadcast for Morecambe Night Out, on the Thursday of their week at Morecambe Winter Gardens.

Laurel & Hardy, and Harry Moreny – the cop in “The Driver’s Licence,” sketch, entertain a young fan backstage at the London Palladium.
