VICTORIA PAVILION THEATRE |
ELMS HOTEL |
| Laurel & Hardy came to Morecambe on just the
one occasion, w/c 26 May 1947, and appeared at the Winter Gardens. Although Morecambe is a seaside resort, and therefore full of hotels, they chose to stay at the Elms Hotel, in Bare, on the outskirts of Morecambe, to escape overzealous fans. On the Tuesday of their visit, Oliver Hardy accompanied Stan Laurel on a visit to look around the house he was born in, in Ulverston. |
