PALACE THEATRE |
MIDLAND
HOTEL |
| Laurel and Hardy visited Manchester on all four British Tours.
On 2 August 1932 they stayed just one night at the Midland Hotel.
In the evening they made an appearance at the Oxford Picture Theatre, before popping over to the Opera House to watch The Night of the Garter. In 1947 Stan and Ollie made up for their previous short stay by playing 2 weeks at the Palace Theatre, commencing 21 July. In 1952, w/c 14 July, they were back at the Palace Theatre, but this time for just the one week. They again stayed at the Midland Hotel, and again went to watch a production at the Opera House. Laurel and Hardy's last stay came w/c 2 November 1953, when widespread flooding, and exhaustion added to their woes. |
