On Friday 29 July 1932 one thousand fans welcomed Stan Laurel and
Oliver Hardy when they get off the train at Waverley Station. In the
afternoon they left the North British Station Hotel to walk around
Edinburgh Castle.
In the evening, they appeared at the Playhouse Cinema.
1947 - The Laurels and the Hardys arrived at the Caledonian Hotel
on Sunday, 29 June. During the week they made many daytime
public appearances, whilst every evening enjoying sell-out evenings at
the Empire Theatre. |
1952 - From the thousands who greeted Laurel & Hardy in 1947,
the
numbers had decreased to just one hundred this time around, w/c 28
April.
Despite the poor reception, there were good houses each evening at
the Edinburgh Empire.
1954 - Laurel and Hardy made their fourth and final visit to Edinburgh,
w/c 12 April. They were by then pretty well exhausted, but were
still
able to turn in a very funny act. |
