This magnificent edifice was demolished in 1974
and a pub and housing now occupies the site. |
Blackpool, Britain's No.1 tourist resort, played
host to the world's No.1 comedy team on two occasions.
The first was a one night stay at the Metropole Hotel, on the night
of 1 August 1932 when, upon their
arrival, Laurel & Hardy fans filled the whole of the area shown in the
photo, and more.
1947, w/c 2 June found Laurel and Hardy
doing a one-week appearance at the Palace Theatre
on the seafront, whilst staying just outside Blackpool, in St.
Annes. |
