AUTHOR

In 1993 "A.J" Marriot published the book “LAUREL & HARDY - The British Tours” - the result of his six years of dedicated research and writing. The book has been bought by fans in over 25 countries, and is still much sought after.

Then in 2005 he self-published “CHAPLIN—Stage by Stage” which is the only one, of all the four-hundred books written about Chaplin, to record and detail all his appearances on the British stage, in British Music Hall, and in American Vaudeville, before he went into films.

COMEDY ACT-DOCTOR

"A.J" has hosted sixteen 3-day COMEDY WORKSHOPS at which he has written for, and advised, over one-hundred aspiring comedians.

Has taught "WRITING COMEDY FOR TELEVISION" at both BEDFORD COLLEGE, and NORTH HERTS. COLLEGE.

Has also taught "STAND-UP COMEDY" at NORTH HERTS. COLLEGE.

COMEDY ENGAGEMENTS

“A.J” (as he likes to be known) turned professional Comedian in 1975 and, for the next fifteen years, toured the length and breadth of Britain; played Residencies in Jersey, the Isle of Man, and the Isle of Wight; cruised in American waters; and worked short stays in Canada, Alaska, Spain, Tenerife, Lanzarotte, Ibiza, and Corfu.

ALTERNATIVE COMEDIAN

In June 2009, after totally reinventing himself and writing a completely new act, "A.J" launched himself on the circuit of London Alternative Comedy Venues. To date he has worked "The Lion's Den" (twice); "Pear-Shaped in Fitzrovia" (twice); "Party Piece;" "The Rye Wit," and "Downstairs at the King's Head." Although he is one of the oldest comedian on that circuit, he has been very well received on each occasion, and can't wait to do more.

"A.J" is a recognised authority on the lives and careers of Laurel & Hardy, and his lectures have been the highlight of many Literary-Luncheons, Film Festivals, and fan-club Conventions all over the UK, and in Europe. His audio and visual lecture/presentations can be tailored to last from one to two hours, and are always punctuated by witty ad-libbing, observations, and inter-action with his audience. What most people find remarkable is that he uses no notes - but catch him out if you can!
